There is no way to successfully and properly manage a safe supply site because harm reduction is founded on the lie, that being dependent on drugs is OK. The fact is it's not OK because the person cannot paddle their own canoe or maintain healthy relationships with friends and family. Drug use only escalates.

We need to spend more money on treatment centers that provide care for months just as they have started in Alberta. This will cost money but it is worth it for everyone involved. Ultimately, this is a more compassionate, hopeful and respectful path to take.

If this "health service" was regulated with a focus on public safety and long-term recovery, it could be a success story. The "victimhood" of active drug users not seeking recovery, and the government failure to provide recovery options - is not compassionate. Rather, it is a dark place that shows no mercy for the worst human suffering on display since the concentration camps of WWII. It is an abject and moral failure of our government withholding recovery options while feeding an industry that relies on skewed scientific research, and lack of oversight to profit on the backs of those who are dying.
