Without recovery, we would not have the benefit of people like Tom to give back and help our communities. There are so many people that can live a life of purpose beyond addiction. To deny recovery is to deny a life of purpose
Tom said something about how drugs hurt or destroyed his soul. We should never give up on people and relegate them to a shadow of a life instead of a solid, robust life of meaning and integrity. Harm reduction activists, though sometimes well-meaning, are short changing people and cheating them out of the joys of family and satisfying work. And sadly, without offering and encouraging recovery programs, they are cheating them out of life itself.
